City's Planning, Property & Development Department Launches New Web Site

City of Winnipeg News Release
Citizens and business owners now have access to a full range of City planning, property and development information via the Internet.  As part of ongoing efforts to provide quality service to citizens and customers, the City of Winnipeg's Planning, Property and Development Department (PP&D) has launched its new web site at: www.city.winnipeg.mb.ca/ppd

"The internet is transforming the way government delivers service to its citizens," says City Councilor Peter De Smedt, Chair of the Standing Committee on Property and Development.  "This web site is a first step in building the interactive internet capabilities necessary to enable citizen access to information and on-line service delivery, regardless of location or time of day."

The new PP&D web site provides an interactive help function, as well as information, photos and brochures on the full range of planning, property and development services.  These include city-owned land for sale, building permits, zoning issues, development applications and municipal golf course services. As the site continues to develop and become interactive, customers will be able to apply for building permits, track the status of applications, book inspection appointments, buy a map and even book municipal golf course tee-times online. The PP&D web site is also linked to the City of Winnipeg web site at: www.city.winnipeg.mb.ca

Further information is available on the web site or by calling the PP&D Customer Information telephone line at 986-3500.  Free public access to the internet is available at all 20 branches of the City Public Library. Media inquiries may be directed to:

Pam Sveinson, Coordinator
Strategic Planning & Communication, Planning, Property & Development Department at 986-3605.
