CFAA HOLDS SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Twenty delegates and participants from 10 Member Associations met in Halifax and contributed to moving the CFAA closer to becoming a visible & recognized national voice for our industry.

SASKATOON MOVING TO LEGALIZE SECONDARY SUITES
The City of Saskatoon plans to legalize existing basement suites. Don Sylvester, S.R.H.I.A Director, stated the proposal is based on an Edmonton model, adding that the Saskatoon plan fails to consider the outcome of Edmonton's program: today little housing is available in the city core.
Barry Remai, S.R.H.I.A President suggests this issue be reviewed on a national basis.
EDMONTON PAPER SLAMS RENT INCREASES
The Edmonton Journal decried the plight of low income people facing rent increases in a market with a 1% vacancy rate. CMHC claims rents are increasing at 9% per year, rising faster than incomes.
Greg noted the article failed to mentioned that over the past decade, rents have been increasing in only the last 18 months.
